Year by Year is written and edited by the Dateline desk, its own editorial team, with no personal byline. The guide covers the five casinos of the Hamilton, Niagara and Brant region, told by date.
The desk
The Dateline desk is the editorial team behind Year by Year, and no single name stands on its work. It builds the home page timeline, which runs from 1996 to 2026 and moves as the reader scrolls. The last two entries, for 2022 and 2026, concern online gambling in Ontario.
The Dateline desk also writes the page for each of the five casinos. Every one of those pages shows a board, and the board carries a single dated fact about that casino.
How facts are checked
The Dateline desk checks each opening date, former name, operator, address and set of hours against the venues' own pages, operator news releases and official sources. Those include the casinos' own websites, OLG's Find A Casino page, iGaming Ontario and the AGCO. The checks for this site were made on October 7 and 8, 2026, and each page shows its date.
Sometimes two sources give different dates or figures for the same thing. In that case the desk leaves the detail out or states that the sources differ. The site carries no holiday hours; readers should confirm those on each casino's own site. The method page, How the dates are checked, sets out the sources used, Wikipedia articles among them.
Where the pictures come from
The gorge at dusk, the escarpment above the river valley and the misty racetrack are painted scenes from an image program. It worked from written descriptions, and these three show no particular casino. Three more were painted from real photographs: Elements Casino Brantford, the Flamboro Downs canopy and the lounge window over the track. Four casino pictures are real photographs from Wikimedia Commons under free licences, cropped for this site. People shown in the pictures are invented and are not staff of any casino.

Not a casino
Year by Year works as an independent guide. It is not a casino: it accepts no bets and keeps no player accounts.
On dundascasino.online, paid links live on the home page alone, three of them, each marked Ad. The menu holds one, a block below the opening screen holds another, and the third sits close to the bottom. All three send readers to a single online casino partner, which may change, and the guide is paid a commission. The links serve Ontario only, so a player must be physically located in the province. No inner page has them, and no casino, OLG, the province or help service pays the site.
Writing to the guide
Mail for the guide goes to [email protected]. Readers write with a correction, with a date or an hour that has changed, or to ask how the guide works. That inbox is the guide's own and no casino's; a casino is reached by calling the casino itself.
