2004: the raceway
Grand River Raceway opened in 2004. Its first race date was April 24, 2004. The track is 5/8 of a mile long and sits on a 53-acre site in Elora. The casino on the grounds gives its address as 7445 Wellington County Rd 21, Elora. No opening date is given here for the slots on the property.
The Grand River Agricultural Society owns and operates the raceway. It is a not-for-profit body, and it runs the racing. The casino on the same grounds has a separate operator, which the next section names. That arrangement still holds as of October 2026: a society keeps the track, while a private operator handles the gaming floor.
2018: a new name
Until May 1, 2018, the gaming floor was called OLG Slots at Grand River Raceway. That day, Great Canadian Gaming and Clairvest completed their purchase of OLG's West GTA gaming bundle. The buyer was the Ontario Gaming West GTA Limited Partnership, split 55% to Great Canadian and 45% to Clairvest. Four facilities took Elements names effective the same day, and this one became Elements Casino Grand River. Three of the four are in this guide; the fourth lies outside its area.
Great Canadian Entertainment operates the casino now. The Grand River Agricultural Society keeps the raceway, which it owns and operates. Behind both sits OLG, which conducts and manages all casino gaming in Ontario.

Race nights
Harness racing runs on most Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights from June to September. Race nights start at 6:20 p.m. Each card has 10 to 12 races. Admission is free, and so is parking.
The racing is run by the Grand River Agricultural Society, not by the casino operator. Its season runs from June to September, so the track and the casino keep different calendars. The casino floor stays open 24/7 on race nights and off them. Exact dates for a given week are on the raceway's own pages.
