Privacy at Year by Year

Checked October 8, 2026

By Clara Novak

Year by Year asks nothing of its readers: no name, no email address and no account. It keeps almost nothing either, and the one thing it does keep stays in the reader's own browser.

What is stored

The site keeps one thing: the theme choice, light or dark. It sits in the browser's session storage, on the reader's own device, not on a server. When the tab closes, the choice is gone.

Nothing else is collected. There are no forms, no accounts, no comments and no newsletter, so there is nothing to fill in and nothing to send. The site sets no cookies. It loads no third-party scripts, no outside fonts and no trackers, so a page view is not passed to any other company. Each page comes from this site's own server alone.
